Morning Glory, Transpac 2005

Honolulu, Hawaii, United States of America - 21º18’91″N 157º51’42″W

Out there in the middle of the beautiful Hawaiian night powered by the stunning wind behind me cemented my desire to become a full time photographer. With Morgan Larson’s support, the iconic image of the Hooters Girls on the bowsprit of Morning Glory has been viewed around the world and sparked my passion. Ever since this significant moment in my life, I have been so very lucky to meet so many talented friends and colleagues. You are my motivation. Thank you.
Hasso Plattner’s Morning Glory Smashes Transpac Record, sliding smoothly through a moonlit sea, finished the Centennial Transpacific Yacht Race in moderate winds just after 2 in the morning local time Sunday to smash the record held by his nearest rival, Roy Disney’.Although it wasn’t a particularly windy Transpac, the maxZ86s proved their slippery power. The German boat’s time for the 2,225 nautical miles was 6 days 16 hours 4 minutes 11 seconds, lopping almost a day off the record of 7:11:41:27 set by Disney’s previous Pyewacket in 1999.
